Let's use an example everyone is familiar with: OpenAI and ChatGPT.
Problem
The unmet need, pain, or opportunity that exists independently of your company.
Example (OpenAI): People struggle to access accurate, useful information quickly and formulate effective queries.
Solution
Your strategic approach to addressing the problem, not the final tool itself.
Example (OpenAI): Employ a large language model trained on extensive text to generate human-like, context-aware responses to natural language queries.
Product
The tangible offering that delivers your solution to users.
Example (OpenAI): ChatGPT, a web-based conversational AI for real-time question-answering.
What May Go Wrong
"The problem is there's no chatbot that answers everything." This describes a missing product, not a fundamental problem. A problem is a pre-existing need or pain, not the absence of a specific tool.
"Our solution is an app that uses AI to answer questions." This describes your product. Your solution is the underlying strategic approach (e.g., leveraging AI via natural language processing (NLP) and generation), not the delivery mechanism.
